JRA Lead Group Rides

Our Group Ride Ethos

JRA Cycles is committed to building a fun, safe, welcoming, and supportive cycling community - our rides and events have a zero tolerance policy for hate speech of any kind. We encourage riders to build one another up, help each other out, and respect each other as well as those we share the trails with. We expect riders to share our commitment to the stewardship of the trails we ride - pack out what you carry in, stay on marked trails, and not create shortcuts/ridearounds.

Cancellations?

Sometimes the weather looks bad or life happens and one of our ride leaders is unavailable... and in these scenarios we would need to cancel. To see if we've canceled a scheduled Group Ride please look to our Instagram stories, as we'll communicate cancellations there.

Things to Bring:

Rides require, at a minimum, an appropriate bike in good working order, water, and a helmet. We suggest a spare tube, tools & flat kit, energy food, maybe a little cash in case we stop, and an open mind and a sense of adventure!

Things Not to Bring:

Recreational use of drugs and alcohol are not permitted on JRA Cycles group rides. But, if you did want post-ride beverages... might we suggest seltzer!

Liability Waiver:

Risk is inherent in bicycling and JRA Cycling accepts no responsibility and/or liability for any injuries or damages occurring on any of the listed group rides. By participating, you agree to the terms & conditions set forth in our rider release.

Saturday
Very Technical MTB

Pace: Enthusiastic / Spicy
Experience Level: Intermediate to Advanced Trail Riding
When: 7:30 AM departing promptly from JRA Cycles
Distance: 6-10 Miles in the Middlesex Fells
Duration: 1.5-2 hours
Appropriate Bike: Mountain Bike with 120mm travel fork minimum and larger than 2.35in tires recommended. A full suspension Mountain Bike will be a better experience due to the difficulty of this terrain.

What to Expect:
A lively trail ride through the Middlesex Fells that will cover some of the Orange Loop and, at times, some additional trails in the network. Rocks, roots, rollers, small drops, and logs are all on the menu, so be prepared for some technical terrain! We stop and regroup regularly, and stop to talk through the hardest features, which make this is a 'no-drop ride' ... but please be mindful that this definitely not beginner-friendly terrain.
