The goal is an hour of fun to spin out the legs after the weekend, and to give new folks a chance to hang out with more experienced riders. The ride will end at Tamper Cafe in Medford.
BRING: Road bike, helmet, water, tube, any sort of tools/ pump/ tubes etc you normally have. Also: some money for coffee and pastries from Tamper Cafe after the ride!
MONDAY NIGHT SKILLS RIDE
Great for all levels!
WHEN: Every Monday Night until Sept 11
TIME: 5:45pm meet time, 6pm hard roll out
WHERE: Park at the Joseph Estabrook Elementary school,
117 Grove Street Lexington, MA 02420
ABOUT THE RIDE: PYT = Practice Your Technique. The format is all about building MTB skills: bike handling, body position, sessioning on trail features, braking, climbing, shifting, etc. Russell Mill has a pump track which will be utilized as well. The ride will be led by NEMBA and JRA Ride Guides, is no-drop and could best be thought of as "ride, practice a skill, ride some more, practice a skill, etc."
GET READY: The PYT rides have something for all riders of all abilities and levels. Come out and learn something new or get better at something you are rusty on - and maybe meet some fellow riders to ride with in the future. This is a great way to take your skills up a notch!
BRING: Mountain bike, Helmet (required), water, good attitude
BONUS! PYT = PIZZA Your Techique. Reward yourself for your hard work with pizza, brought to you by JRA Cycles, for immediate post-ride consumption!
WEDNESDAY MORNING CX PRACTICE
WHEN: Wednesday mornings from August 16th till Thanksgiving Morning
TIME: Meet up @ 630am, preride @ 645am, 1st race starts @ 7am SHARP
WHERE: Larz Anderson Park, top of the hill:
350 Goddard Ave, Brookline, MA 02445
ABOUT THE RIDE: We meet up, do a lap to preview the course, then do 2x20 min heats. We generally break between 10 and 15 minutes between races. The course is not taped, but marked by features and cones. Features: climbing, tricky descending, barriers, stairs, a wicked run up, lots of off camber sections, and a few rooty bits. You can ride at your own pace, or repeat the same section over and over to get your skills dialed. Any rain will cancel the ride: the folks at Larz keep that place looking good, and we don't want to smash their lawn. Also, dog walkers/ folks out for a walk get the right of way, always. We will modify the course if there is a potential conflict. Be friendly, be polite, and remember that this is an awesome public park!
GET READY: Bring your climbing legs! First Larz Course (run until Gloucester) is designed to be challenging to get you tuned up for the season ahead. Once the season settles in, the course mellows significantly - there are plenty of technical challenges to keep you on your toes and sharp for your next race, but you probably don't need another brutal effort mid week.
BRING: Bike (CX bike works best, but anything you think will stick to the grass and the dirt), helmet, maybe some water, any sort of tools/ pump/ tubes etc you normally have.
